FAQs
You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many of our clients come to therapy because they're feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, stuck, anxious, disconnected, or simply ready for more support. If life feels heavier than it should or you're struggling to navigate it on your own, therapy may be a great next step.
That's okay. You don't need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. Many clients come to therapy knowing they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unlike themselves, but aren't sure why. Together, we'll make sense of what's happening and identify a path forward.
Yes! While insight is important, we also believe therapy should be practical. Our goal is to provide you with tools, strategies, and perspectives that help you navigate challenges long after our sessions end.
That's completely normal. Trust takes time, and there's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with. We'll move at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you.
Stress is a normal part of life and tends to improve once the stressful situation passes. Burnout often feels deeper and more persistent. You may feel emotionally exhausted, disconnected, irritable, unmotivated, or like you have nothing left to give, even after resting. If you're wondering whether what you're experiencing is stress or burnout, therapy can help you better understand what's happening and what you need to move forward.
Before your first session, we do a free 15 minute consultation with every potential client to give us a chance to connect, discuss what's bringing you to therapy, and determine whether our practice is a good fit. We will discuss availability, rates and insurance and more. It's a relaxed, no-pressure conversation where you can ask questions, learn more about our approach and determine if Haven House is a good fit.
Your first session is all about getting to know you, what's bringing you to therapy, and what you'd like to get out of our work together. You don't need to have everything figured out before you start, and there's no expectation to share your entire life story in one session. You and your therapist will focus on what's feeling most important right now and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. While you may explore past experiences when they're relevant to your goals, therapy isn't about forcing you to revisit every chapter of your life, it's about helping you make sense of your experiences and create meaningful change in the present.

There are two ways to use your out-of-network benefits for therapy services:
Option 1: Use Thrizer (Recommended)
We partner with a company, Thrizer, that can verify your benefits, estimate your out-of-pocket costs, and submit claims to your insurance company on your behalf. In many cases, you'll only pay your estimated portion of the session fee upfront, making the process simple and stress-free.Option 2: Submit a Superbill
We can also provide you with a superbill, which is an itemized receipt for therapy services. You can submit this document directly to your insurance company and, if eligible, receive reimbursement for a portion of your session fees. Not sure which option is right for you? We're happy to discuss your benefits and answer any questions during your free intro call.
Because therapy licensing is state-specific, we are currently only able to provide therapy to clients who are physically located in North Carolina at the time of their session.

If you’re in North Carolina, we offer secure telehealth sessions designed to make therapy more accessible and convenient for your busy life. If you’re outside of North Carolina, we're happy to help you find resources or a therapist licensed in your state.
